NIKE Honors FIBA Expert and GSP Clinician Terry Layton

Every year the USA Junior National Select Team competes against the World Select Team—a battle of the top US High School seniors against the best Under-19 players from around the world.   It is called the Nike Hoop Summit, and it showcases the best basketball talent in the world. How good are they? The past nine #1 overall NBA Draft picks have played in the Nike Hoop Summit.

This year, was special because they honored GSP partner and expert presenter, Terry Layton, who passed this life and went on to his reward in December 2018. Before the game, a ceremony and moment of silence honored Terry’s life and impact, on the court and off. During the game, Team World, coached by Canada’s National Team Head Coach Roy Rana, wore a TL patch on their jerseys.

Coach Rana said, “[I was] Honored to once again stand side by side with an incredible group of character young men representing the World and in memory of our good friend Terry Layton. Thank You!”

Terry was a devoted husband, father, coach and mentor, strong faith and character were evident in all that he did. He will forever be respected and loved for his contributions to basketball and his investment in people’s lives. Terry represented GSP in Iraq while training basketball coaches for the Iraqi Basketball Association.

Thank you, Terry, for a life well-lived.
